Camarillo, CA - The Camarillo City Council will host the first of four public hearings on the redistricting process on October 13, 2021 at 7:00 p.m.

Redistricting is underway throughout California and involves the redrawing of district lines to balance the population in each of the City’s Council districts. This is the first time Camarillo has undergone redistricting, following the City’s transition to District-Based Elections in 2019. The redistricting process will occur every ten years, with the release of new U.S. Census data to ensure that each City councilmember represents about the same number of constituents.

Community participation is important because redistricting determines which neighborhoods and communities are grouped together into a district for purposes of electing a councilmember. Camarillo residents are invited to learn about redistricting, share comments, and suggest maps for redrawing the lines through a series of public meetings.

The public hearings will be located at City Hall, Council Chambers, 601 Carmen Drive, Camarillo, as follows:

  • Public Hearing 1 – October 13, 2021, at 7:00 p.m.
  • Public Hearing 2 – November 10, 2021, at 7:00 p.m.
  • Public Hearing 3 – January 26, 2022, at 7:00 p.m.
  • Public Hearing 4 – February 23, 2022, at 7:00 p.m.

A certified Spanish interpreter will be available. In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, special needs may be met by calling (805) 388-5397 in advance of the hearing.
