Water Backflow Prevention

The purpose of a backflow prevention device is to keep unsafe drinking water from mixing with the potable water supply. A backflow prevention device must be installed on all residential irrigation systems, fire sprinkler systems, commercial facilities where chemicals are used, boiler systems, and other systems where drinking water could become contaminated.

The City of Camarillo and the State of California require that all backflow prevention devices, with the exception of atmospheric vacuum breakers, be tested annually by a certified backflow prevention device tester. This testing process helps ensure a safe drinking water supply for the city's water customers. To obtain a list of Certified Backflow testers in Ventura County, or if you have other questions or concerns regarding backflow prevention devices, call the city's Water Division at 388-5373.
