CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY
A commercial building erected subject to the California Building Code shall not be used until a certificate of use and occupancy has been issued by the city's Building Official. Upon completion of work, the developer/applicant must apply for a Certificate of Occupancy. No commercial building may be used or occupied until a Certificate of Occupancy is issued.
Developers or contractors must request occupancy certification from the Building& Safety
Department for unit(s), building(s) or entire group housing project. Permits are reviewed by the Building & Safety Department to determine if all required building inspections have been made. Upon approval, the Building & Safety Department will release power for the project. If the construction is completed in accordance with the code, and it satisfies the Building and Safety, Community Development, Public Works Departments specifications and requirements, a Certificate of Occupancy is issued.
Approximately one to two days is required for processing the certificate. For further
