RENT REVIEW

The City of Camarillo does not have rent control. However, the City Council established a Rent Review Commission to provide a forum to assist in the resolution of rent disputes between landlord and tenants for apartment buildings (with five or more units that were leased or occupied on or before July 1, 1984) and mobile homes (located in mobile home parks with 25 or more spaces).

A park/apartment tenant who receives notice of a proposed rent increase (which he/she feels is unfair or unreasonable), may petition for review of the proposed rent increase. If the increase is to affect a majority of tenants within the park or apartment complex, the petition must be signed by more than twenty-five percent of the tenants affected by the proposed increase.

Please see Chapter 10.50 of the Municipal Code for regulations regarding Rent Review.
