Preliminary treatment consists of the removal of large particulate matter in the wastewater stream by mechanical means. The CSD uses three automatic bar screens to filter out large debris in the wastewater. These materials are collected in a bin and deposited in a landfill. The filtered wastewater is then transferred to next step in the treatment process - primary treatment.
