Whether you are considering starting a new business in Camarillo, or looking for help with your existing business, City staff can help you get the assistance you need. If you need information about a business loan, zoning, marketing strategies, putting together a business plan, financial planning, or other issues, we're here to help. We can point you to numerous organizations and programs, including the Economic Development Collaborative of Ventura County (EDC-VC), Women's Economic Ventures (WEV), the Small Business Association (SBA), and the California Association for Local Economic Development (CALED), the Cal Coastal Development Corporation, and more.  We can also assist with expansion or zoning issues through the City Community Development Department, Foreign Trade Zone matters, and more. For instance, through its Business Enhancement Program, the EDC-VC offers free, confidential help for businesses with less than 200 employees.
These assistance programs are summarized below.
JOB SPECIFIC TRAINING ASSISTANCE
The Employment Training Panel (ETP) assists business in obtaining the skilled workers it needs to stay competitive, productive and profitable by funding training for new and existing employees. The Panel contracts with for-profit businesses to provide training directed at job creation for high wage, high skill jobs or retraining existing employees to remain competitive. Typically, trainees receive at least 100 hours of instruction consisting of classroom and structured on-site training, with a minimum of one-third of the hours in the classroom environment. Institutional courses can also be approved. The employer chooses the curriculum and selects the trainers. Hourly rates of reimbursement vary between $8 - $14 per hour, depending on the type of training.
